SC534 - Managing Diversity Teams in STEM New

Tuesday, 07 May
10:30 - 14:30

Short Course Level: N/A

Instructor:

Arti Agrawal, University of Technology Sydney, Australia

Short Course Description:

Innovative research, collective intelligence and decision-making quality increases in diverse teams that are inclusive. This is evidenced by research studies in Science, PNAS and others. Furthermore, financial returns for companies with more gender and racially diverse boards is higher than their peers by as much as 25-36% as evidenced by McKinsey’s latest report.

This leads to more highly cited and novel research papers, better product design, implementation and completion rates for your firm’s tech projects.

This interactive, workshop-style short course will give you practical skills and tips and tools to work with, manage and lead diverse teams in a STEM workplace.

While there are more generalist diversity training courses available, these don’t fully understand the profession and its unique culture and unique practical challenges you maybe facing.

The instructor is a practising engineer with 20 years' experience in the profession, bringing her lived experience of the profession to the training to make it authentic and impactful.

By the end of this course, you’ll have the skills to successfully work with and manage a diverse STEM workforce and benefit from lower attrition rates, better performance and better return on investment.
