Observation of Optical Gyromagnetic Properties in Magneto–Optical Metamaterials (FM1B.1)

We report the observation of gyromagnetic and bi-gyrotropic properties in magneto-optical metamaterials. Anomalous s-polarized transverse magneto-optical Kerr effect is observed in magneto-optical Mie resonators and split ring resonators, featuring giant gyrotropic permeability tensors at the near infrared.

Electrically Tunable Beam Manipulation Based on Intersubband Polaritonic Metasurfaces (FM1B.2)

We report electrically tunable beam manipulations using intersubband polaritonic metasurfaces. Experimentally, 45° of reflection phase tuning, 15% of beam diffraction tuning, and 11% of beam steering were achieved near wavelength of 6.55 μm.

Global Phase Correction Improves Metalens Efficiency (FM1B.3)

We introduce a fast joint optimization of unit cells across the whole metasurface, exploiting interactions between nearby cells to produce a desired near-field profile and improving whole-lens focusing efficiency.

We experimentally demonstrate multiresponsive tuning of high-quality-factor dielectric metasurfaces integrated with light- and temperature-responsive copolymers at near-infrared wavelengths. Our work explores multidimensional active control of metasurface-based nanophotonic systems for novel light field manipulations.

Being inspired by the structure of butterfly wings, we design and demonstrate experimentally novel types of plasmonic metasurfaces supporting high-Q collective lattice resonances (Q~89) in the mid-IR region revealed by focused light beams with large apertures.

Filter-Free Color Image Sensors With a Full-Color-Sorting Metalens Array (FM1B.8)

We present a filter-free color image sensor utilizing a full-color-sorting metalens array. Our demonstration shows the sensor’s ability to create high-quality color images while enhancing pixel-signal levels compared with those of conventional image sensors.
