Optical Technologies for Autonomous Cars and Mobility

This symposium will focus on the application of optical technologies such as lidar and cameras for autonomous mobility applications, including self driving cars, drones, robots, autonomous package deliveries, etc. With almost 1 billion cars worldwide, significant investment and efforts are being made to make self-driving cars a reality. Currently, most self-driving car companies are relying on mix of sensors and technologies including lidars, cameras, and radars, but the perfect combination for performance, safety, autonomy, and cost is not yet clear. There is also a strong desire to implement these sensing technologies on semiconductor platforms; and to enable applications outside the autonomous car industry such as agriculture, mining, mapping and construction. This symposium will highlight the latest results in autonomous mobility, and the optical innovations they are relying on.
