The first section of the presetnation will discuss how scientific applications of femtosecond lasers and user requirements are driving a continuing product evolution towards improved reliability and lifetime while pushing at the same time performances in term of available power and energy.
Industrial Applications of Ultrafast Lasers
The second section of the presentation will discuss some of the industrial applications for ultrafast lasers including applications in the automotive, medical, and commercial markets. As picosecond and femtosecond lasers evolve to offer higher pulse energy and higher output power processing times are improved, but thermal and debris management becomes more critical.
Marco Arrigoni, Director of Strategic Marketing, Coherent, USA
Marco Arrigoni received his MSEE from Politecnico di Milano in 1984. From 1985 to 1988 he worked in Italy as R&D engineer for defense companies Aeritalia and FIAR. In 1988 he moved to California to work for Coherent as R&D engineer. In 1995 he took the position of market development manager for Coherent commercial business in Asia; between 1998 and 2000 he managed Coherent operations in Asia from the Tokyo office. From 2001 to 2007 he covered various positions in sales, marketing and business unit management. In 2007 he took his current position of Director of Strategic Marketing for the scientific research market.
Tony Lee, Senior Applications Engineer, Coherent, USA
Tony Lee received his Ph.D. in Physics in 1994 from the University of California, Davis. Prior to joining Coherent in 2016, he worked at Textron as a senior scientist and at Agilent as an R&D project manager. He is currently a senior applications engineer in Coherent’s ultrafast laser applications Lab.
