Hamamatsu offers quantum cascade lasers (QCL) with pulsed or continuous-wave mid-IR emission

Bridgewater, New Jersey – May 3, 2010 – Hamamatsu showcases its L10195 series quantum cascade lasers (QCLs), which offer pulsed and continuous-wave mid-infrared emission at room temperature. Fabry-Perot (FP) chip structures are available in pulsed mode from 4.0 µm to 14.0 µm and in continuous-wave mode from 4.5 µm to 10.5 µm. High-power FP chips are also available. Hamamatsu can supply customized distributed feedback (DFB) QCLs for even narrower spectral line width at room temperature.

The mid-infrared emission of the QCLs allows for an extremely effective tool for detection of molecular trace gases, and result in high sensitivity, high selectivity, non-destructivity and real-time monitoring. Hamamatsu combines the small size QCL chip in a variety of packages: high heat load (HHL), open heatsink, C-mount, butterfly package (BTF), and TO-8. These packages make the QCL ideal for compact, portable devices for precise trace gas detection.

Accessories such as cooling heads, temperature controllers, aspheric lenses and drivers for pulsed operation are also available.
