Hamamatsu introduces a new streak camera with 50X faster data acquisition speed for picosecond fluorescence measurements
The new Streakscope C10627 captures full spectral and temporal information simultaneously at one-fiftieth the measurement time compared to the previous model.
Bridgewater, New Jersey – April 27, 2010 – Hamamatsu Corporation has introduced the new Streakscope C10627 for capturing weak, short-lived fluorescence of samples in semiconductor, photophysics, and biology fields. With the ability to resolve fluorescence lifetimes down to the sub-picosecond domain, the Streakscope is suited for time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy and picosecond fluorescence. Using the Streakscope has advantages over other techniques such as time-correlated single photon counting using a PMT and gated spectroscopy using a gated II-CCD. Unlike those other techniques which capture only one set of information (spectral or temporal) at one time, the Streakscope captures a full spectral emission simultaneously with high temporal resolution and high sensitivity.
The new Streakscope C10627 is even more sensitive and faster than our previous model. The C10627 incorporates a newly designed streak tube with a traveling wave deflector, which allows sweeps rates up to 20 MHz, resulting in 10 times faster analog acquisition speed than the previous model. This increase in sweeps rate significantly shortens the measurement time. Other features include the following: a high-speed digital CCD readout of 150 frames per second (5 times faster than the previous model) and improved photon counting acquisition with a dynamic range of more than five orders of magnitude. The combination results in data acquisition fifty times faster, or one-fiftieth the data acquisition time, compared to the previous model. A complete system for picosecond fluorescence lifetime measurement that incorporates the Streakscope C10627 is also available (product number C11200).
