Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
As a Short Course student, you also get the added benefit of earning Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
The CEU is a nationally recognized unit of measure used to quantify continuing education and training activities. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) were created as a way to document noncredit work in specifically developed activities for adult learners in a variety of disciplines. One CEU is defined as "10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction."


Free Short Course Program for Student Members — Purchase One Course, Get One Free!
Student members no longer have to wait for the close of Advance Registration to take advantage of the Free Short Course offer. Now when student members register for the conference and purchase a Short Course, they can immediately sign up for a free half-day Short Course.
To take advantage of the special CLEO: 2012 Free Short Course Program, students must:
- Be a current student member of APS, IEEE Photonics Society or OSA (Valid ID Required)
- Register for the CLEO: 2012 conference (full or one-day Technical registration)
- Register for/purchase one half-day Short Course to receive a free half-day Short Course
